We believe the Sierra Madre Public Library is the heart of the community with its limitless landscapes of imagination and information to explore. Through fundraising, relationship development, grantsmanship, and corporate sponsors, the Sierra Madre Library Foundation will be the means by which Sierra Madre gives itself the 21st Century facility we deserve and will use and cherish as a center of civic engagement for the next 60 years.
Our library has been the center of community life in Sierra Madre since before we became a city. The original Sierra Madre Library was the fourth established in Los Angeles County way back in the 1880s. The present building was constructed 64 years ago and no longer serves the needs of our growing, vital city.
In survey after survey, Sierra Madre residents affirm that the Library is one of the major reasons they’ve chosen this place to live and raise their families. Our library is where Sierra Madreans from every generation, profession and point of view gather to read, learn and celebrate our home town. It is “the indispensable place” in our beloved city.
